Brunch date with Danica

So, I had a chance to connect with my high school gf, Danica.
Even though we weren't super close in high school, possibly due to hanging with different crowds and having different classes other than 1 business class that we met in, we recently got back in touch IN PERSON. I think I actually wrote about it. So, I'm not going to go into it much further.

Anyways, she invited me over to her house, which is actually quite far from me. But, I was excited to just chill at her house, instead of having to go to a restaurant and feel awkward about overstaying our welcome.

Since she was lovely enough to offer to cook me brunch, and knowing her I figured that she would cook up something fierce and just amazing, I decided to bring dessert. So I baked chocolate sheet cake that I found a recipe of, and it was so easy to bake and quite delicious actually.

When I got to her place, she was busy cooking up a storm of faux-french toast and just other delicious things. Let the pics speak for themselves, even though they don't do their deliciousness justice.

It was mascarpone lemon french toast with berries & strawberry champs!

Then, we just CHATTED away. like. really.

And we got hungy from all the talking, so she cooked up ANOTHER STORM of deliciousness.

I look weird in this pic, but hahahaha OH WELL.

Done: Date with Mom!

So, I thought it would be fun to spend a day in LA with mom since she hasn't seen a lot of LA.

Our original plan was to go to LACMA, but I thought the Getty might be more fun since we both enjoy classical art more than modern art.

We started the day with lunch at Jitlada.
I've never been before, but I heard that it's one of the best Thai food ever!

I realized that they specialize in Southern Thai food. I have never had Southern Thai food before, but from my experience from Jitlada, it is effing spicy.

Morning Glory Salad

Jungle Pork Rib Curry (or something like that..)

The Morning Glory Salad with Shrimp was delicious!!! Tangy and Sweet. I don't usually like a lot of fried things in my food, but with the dressing and the shrimp, the salad was amazing!!

But, everything went south when the Curry came out. OH MY GOD.
IT IS THE SALTIEST AND THE SPICIEST FOOD I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.
My tongue was numb and hands started tingling. Finished my cup of water.
Same reaction from Mom.
We had one scoop full and were done.
I mean it was strangely addicting in the end though...

We took most of it home and cooked it with more veggies and meat to make it edible.

Problems other than the spiciness:
1. took forever to get the food.
2. small restaurant
3. yucky smell
4. THEY CHARGE FOR RICE!

But, I want to go back..
lol

Then, to soothe our poor mouths, I decided to take her to Urth Caffe, one of my favorite places!

We went to the one in Beverly Hills and ended up walking a mile overall to get the coffee and come back lol. Because I miss calculated how far it was from the parking lot... hahaha
It was interesting walking there and back, and paid a visit to Anthropologie!
Not too bad!

I got my usual green tea latte, and my mom got the spanish latte.
(:
YUMS

Then, went to the Getty!

My favorite artist & one of my favorite paintings <3

Beautiful day there.
We walked a lot!
We really enjoyed it (:

After we were done, we decided to get dinner near the Grove.
Since we've eaten at the Grove before, I decided that Little Next Door would be great!
Cute little bistro style.

We found a parking spot relatively easily haha.

Ordered a calamari salad and the mussel entree.
DELICIOUS!

Then we drove back and stopped by a Korean market to shop for groceries.

It was a really fun day (:

I want to do it again, and maybe my broho and dad can come along too!

FUNFUNFUN,

Hayon

Done: Date with Danica

So, there's this lovely girl named Danica!

We went to high school together and only kept in touch in the cyber world since our business class together in sophomore year? or junior year..

She is probably half my size. But, with my height, that really isn't that big of a deal anymore lol.
She is also very fashionable and just FUN!
And this girl has got it together.
I'm not saying this because she may or may not read this. HAHA. She probably won't because I didn't tell many people about this blog!
I told like.. 3 ppl.

Anyways, so we haven't talked in person in... 6 or so years.
Ridiculous.

We always said, let's meet up!
But, with our busy schedules and the distance, it just didn't happen until we were both graduated and somewhat relaxing.

Honestly, I was a bit nervous before the date since there was a real possibility that this could go soooo awkward. But, I mean I cyber stalk her (yes, I openly admitted to her and the world, to which she also admitted to stalking me. so yay!), so it feels like I know her life HAHA.

And fortunately, things weren't awkward AT ALL.
In fact, things went too well.

We talked for 8 hours.

Sat at Octopus for 3, then moved to Mochilato for 5.
Holyshmoly.

We didn't even realize.
By the end of our "therapy session," my back was fairly sore, and I was exhausted, but ecstatic!

it felt like we had a lot in common.
And it was nice to talk to someone who could relate to me and vice versa.

And now we happily text each other problems and concerns. <3

I mean this girl has her shit together. AND she doesn't judge. AND she also has no problem hating on idiots with me! hahahahaha

love her.

Anyways, if you ever read this, Danica, I freakin' love you! hahahahaha So glad we had our date.

love,

Hayon
